InDesign Scripts for Fonts

A while ago I created my first (and probably last) script for InDesign. It came from the need for a proper font-proofing document and was also a bit of self-challenging.

Here is a small list of scripts that may be helpful when working with fonts or typography and that I came across during my research.

GlyphProof

Showing the glyphs of a typeface in all weights and styles.

Print Every Glyph In The Font

First and only script that I used on a regular basis, to create a list of all glyphs of a font, even those that have no own Unicode character. It shows all characters by their Glyph ID: https://creativepro.com/make-a-font-contact-sheet-in-indesign/

Deliver Glyphs

Allows a set of glyphs to be imported between two Glyph IDs. Not sure if this is helpful but definitely was a source of inspiration for me:

Font Catalog

Creates a font catalog in InDesign of all installed fonts:

OpenType Features

Extensive script for working with OpenType features by Roland Dreger. Roland made some more interesting scripts. This one lets you control the OpenType attributes of any installed font. Definitely worth checking out. https://indiscripts.com/post/2021/09/finally-a-clean-opentype-features-dialog-in-indesign

There are a lot of InDesign scripts out there (even a ‘font editor’ script, which I did not test so far). Here is a page with over 200 scripts sorted by categories: https://redokun.com/blog/indesign-scripts

Feel free to add any interesting further script in the comments.
